Our journey continues – after two initial scenarios, Black Barrow and Barrow Lair, we came back to Gloomhaven town to buy some stuff, play city events and decide what to do next. Just a reminder, we play in following set-up:
- me – playing Brute
- Kuba J – playing Spellweaver
- Kuba G – playing Tinkerer
We had possible choices with Scenarios #3, #4 and #69 (that one the special one, as a trophy for one of treasury chests). We decided to follow main story line and at the instigation Jekserah, decided to do the example of Inox village – supposedly, full of thieves, murderers, etc.
So we quickly entered the main entrance to the village – the reception was not most hospitable as you might imagine – guard, archers and Shaman:

What is worse, the Guards keep coming until we managed to break through and enter the cave at the back of the village:

At this moment in time, a full-swing battle ensued, as some of the Guards we passed while rushing towards the cave, catch-up and we had to repel enemy attacks form all sides:

After winning the battle at the entrance to the cave, we were still 5 enemies short before winning the scenario and our hands were thinning out pretty rapidly. We really faced potential loss of scenario due to mass exhaustion of our characters but fortunately crazy run and some well prepared cards and special abilities allowed for dispatching of the enemies:

I will not disclose the aftermath of the scenario as it is pretty interesting, thematic and could be a large spoiler. However, what I can openly say is that while not endangered to be killed or incapacitated in other way, we really come very, very close to exhaustion by lack of cards. I like that mechanic very much and definitely it makes the game spicy.
We managed to get the treasury and the results of battle were pretty good – my Brute is now Level 2, while two other colleagues are pretty close to increase their level. The next scenario will be very interesting,m as it also will be played on Level 2 while not everybody in our company has already leveled-up. I hope for a good fight – most probably in Bonus Scenario #69!
Our Gloomhaven Campaign: Scenario#1 => Scenario#2 => Scenario#3 => Scenario#69 => Scenario#4 => Scenario#5 => Scenario#93 => Scenario#10 => Scenario#21
So, not to give away spoilers. I must say that as spellweaver is capable of doing some crazy (quite risky) openings. i did one in this scenario unfortunatelly with an awful result(attack cards weren’t good to me), still we didn’t end up with a loss (my death and potential failue of a scenario) 😉 unlike Michal , i didn’t fear about exhaustion. If my plan ended up as i hoped, we could have finished the game 2-3 rounds earlier with much less stress, me and the Second Jakub still could do some damage, so even if Michal exhausted himself, we finish scenario. Difficult scenario fo spellweaver, besides the begining difficult to use skills with high efficency, but great place to show some skills for the Brute and Tinkerer, they both carried me a bit this time, as after initial bad start i had rather difficult times(if my crazy start succeeded i could get MVP reward, instead MUP -most useless player) 😉
