After long, two month hiatus – traditional for our boardgame group during the summer vacation period – we came back to the Frosthaven campaign full of energy, resolve and… willingness to bring it to the conclusion! That wish is not unjustified; let me just briefly recapitulate for the Dear Readers the status of our adventure in the world of Frosthaven:
- so far we played over 40 scenarios
- the Algox sub-campaign was fully & successfully completed
- the Lurkers sub-campaign is one scenario from completion; still, we miss the final, sixth shard to the Lurkers Crown to be able to tackle it
- the Unfettered (machines) sub-campaign is two scenarios from completion; there are no obstacles to follow it
So the decision was simple – we hit the Machines and try to conclude this story-line in September. With that we decided to jump to the scenario #44 Nerve Center – where we were deep into the mysterious tower of Unfettered.
By the way, the vacation period was not lost to the Frosthaven on the blog. You can check the strategy articles which were published during this time:

Before we jump to the scenario description and the After Action Report, short reminder about our current group composition; we run a 4-player campaign, with very versatile and flexible team – consisting mainly of unlockable Frosthaven classes with one base character:
- Frozen Fist – level 6 (me) – a character with pretty unusual mechanics (losing health to recover cards), proves to be a decent damage dealer while also can soak up some damage.
- Infuser – level 5 (Kuba J) – crazy mechanics with infusion, possibility to send swords as summons, strong attacks with decent health. Another damage dealer capable of taking some beating.
- Snowdancer – level 6 (Kuba G) – crowd control and manipulation master, creates a lot of hazardous terrain and then pulls or pushes monsters. Recently gained skill to move that hazardous terrain!
- Drifter – level 4 (Adam) – This is super flexible character, who can heal, attack, take the beating and is no dependent on elements; very strong addition to our team.
Scenario Specifics
Below we analyze scenario, its set-up, win conditions and complexity levels:

So yes, this is critical scenario on the path to resolve the Unfettered Spire mystery – and the whole sub-campaign. The goal is clear – kill all monsters but also all six metal cabinets. What is important is the fact that once you get rid of the cabinet, it hits all nearby monsters with trap damage. So you want to plan it properly and inflict as much carnage as possible in process. Especially as the enemies you will face here – and even right from the start – will be very challenging…

Session Report

Summary
I admit, I had fun coming back to Frosthaven after two months of break; I believe we all needed it before the final push to unveil the mystery of this world. The scenario we played was not so easy – however our great cooperation, flexibility and knowledge – not only what you can do but also what your colleague next to you can achieve – gave us a great advantage even against the odds. With that in mind we will approach the final scenario – which required from us a very interesting decision; but more on this in next report!
More reports to come!

My infuser gots angry while reading that “little help”. Finishing off lots of monsters, weakening them with muddles or wounds, maybe no impressive actions with massive damage, but reliable. First round with disarm – i could immobilize 2 enemies and disarm, made all enemies unable to hit us(if they survived we could easily stand outside their range) the end of the second room would be much easier if some character wouldn’t go selfish and sacrificed 3 or more turns to claim the treasure chest (sure cabinet was close, but the main reason to get there was the chest) . Fairly easy scenario, the cabinets were huge help dealing tons of damage to enemies(maybe even over 60 damage along the scenario, as much as 4 elite monsters), especially against enemies with high retaliate and shields.

“Little” was a joke and reference that we all he time had infuser blades flying above our heads from distance 🙂
