There are some great concepts and solutions in Frosthaven. There are also poor or mediocre areas (well, our group is still not convinced by the Outpost phase). Today we had a possibility to fully experience one of those two types of Frosthaven mechanics. Today we definitely played one of the most interestingly built scenarios so far!
What was it? First things first! Do you remember #18 Crystal Fields? No? So let me describe the situation. In Algox main campaign branch we have two factions struggling to win the supremacy over this race: Icespeakers and Snowspeakers. Both hate “warm bloods”, i.e. races of our characters, both despise the Frosthaven Outpost, both wants us dead. However, in each of those groups there is a “peace faction” which struggles for reconciliation. We learned about it in #18 Crystal Fields and had a choice:
- support “peace-makers” and escort them to secret meeting
- support the war party of one of the sides and destroy with their help the other
You know, we are good guys… We went for first option and hence #28 Summit Meeting scenario.
Our Frosthaven Campaign in scenario order:
Some interesting materials about Frosthaven World: Frosthaven – first look – starting characters (1/2) Frosthaven – first look – starting characters (2/2) Frosthaven – monsters' analysis & strategies – Lurkers Frosthaven – monsters' analysis & strategies – Unfettered
As for the composition of our company, no surprises, we still play in a well-proven, versatile and deadly team:
- Deathwalker at level 7 (me)
- Trapper at level 5 (Kuba J)
- Coral level 5 (Kuba G)
This is becoming a very complementary group, with me as damage dealer, Kuba J as support and Kuba G – as main tank. Also, pretty high levels gave us not only new cards, but also additional items, more Hit Points and a lot of experience on how to best use our characters. The difficulty level of course increases with level of our characters, but probably not in a proportional way (despite the fact, mathematically everything is up to the point). Simply, intangible elements prevail: experience, knowledge and teamwork.
Session report
Here is our scenario:
It has three dots so that means it will be complex adventure. And believe me – it was! What was so special? Well, the fact that instead of usual “we vs. monsters” set-up we had three groups, each of them enemy to another! Let us see how exactly that looked like.
PS. As always, feel free to click on below images for full details.
Session report

Summary
Truly astonishing scenario – one which we could to a large extent manipulate and bid the time to strike; very clever plot and implementation. While maybe not the most difficult, a very enjoyable play. Of course, my teleport is always helpful, the traps can channel the enemies to places where we need them and we are simply powerful enough to deal with them. That was fun!
See you in another session report!

Fairly easy game, but not the best scenario for my trapper – because handling ranged(or flying) enemies is my weakness. Not easy to move around with 10 max hp when 2 enemies hit from a long distance and retaliate. I tried to deal some damage, but only killed one , which is pathetic. It was fun to watch various Algoxes fight each other, for one we didn’t get much beting from them. 😉

Nice little report – but looking at your end game state – did you play it right? IIRC – You have to kill all of one enemy type before the escape route opens – but it is the opposite escape route from where the enemy is located – so to escape from the area you appear in your last picture, you would have had to kill the Snowspeakers that still appear in the background – OR we played it completely wrong and made it much harder than it should have been 🙂

Hi, you are right that depending on route, you have to kill all Snowspeakers or Icespeakers. And we did – what you see is just 3 Algox Archers!
