Last summer I spent four wonderful days at Wargameron, and it quickly became my favorite wargaming convention in Poland – you can read my full recap and impressions from the 2025 edition here. Great colleagues (some of them not seen for far too long), perfect conditions for playing, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere made it a truly special experience. So when the organizers confirmed the dates for the next edition, I did not hesitate for a moment: I will be there again, and I would like to warmly invite you to join us.

Wargameron 2026 takes place from 27 to 30 August at the Hotel Kuznia Napoleonska in Paprotnia – Teresin, in central Poland, around 30 km from Warsaw. It is a convention built specifically for fans of wargames and of historical, strategic and tactical titles – an event created by players, for players. What sets it apart is a simple but powerful idea: bring everything together under one roof, so that participants can focus on nothing but the games themselves.

One convention, one place

This is a fully on-site convention. We play, sleep and eat in the same hotel, which gives the whole event a level of immersion you rarely find elsewhere. Instead of a gaming hall in one place and everything else scattered around town, Wargameron offers accommodation, meals and the playing area in a single location, available as one attractive package. The restaurant and bar stay open with special prices for participants, breakfasts and buffet meals come at favourable rates, and the practical result is minimum logistics and maximum gaming.

The hall and the games

At the heart of the convention is a 500 m2, well-lit gaming hall with over 50 tables of various sizes – from intimate two-player duels to large, multi-hour monster games – complemented this year by additional themed rooms and a dedicated space for the biggest titles. Comfortable chairs, a sensible table layout and direct access to the bar, restaurant and garden mean that even the most demanding sessions run smoothly, without unnecessary breaks or logistics getting in the way.

In short, here is what you can expect:

  • Four days of intense, uninterrupted gaming
  • 100+ participants from Poland and abroad
  • A spacious, well-lit hall with over 50 tables and an almost unlimited supply of chairs
  • A dedicated monster game room plus additional themed rooms
  • Quizzes, an integration football match, and the now-traditional BBQ
  • English-friendly throughout – around 90% of the games played are English editions

Guests and designers in 2026

Among many other guests, you will have the opportunity to meet designers and play both the newest and the classic designs of:

  • Grzegorz Kurylowicz, designer of the upcoming In Fours to Heaven, the ultimate game about the 1939 Polish campaign
  • Paul Hederer, designer of the upcoming 1916: Romania – Prelude to Blitzkrieg
  • Francisco Ronco, designer of Von Manstein’s Triumph and many other titles
  • David Gomez Relloso, designer of Crusade and Revolution
  • Stefan Ekstrom and the 3CG team, known for Stalingrad Solitaire and Konigsberg, presenting their new designs

Community, location and getting there

A convention is only as good as its people, and this is where Wargameron really shines. A dedicated matchmaking app – relaunched this year in a brand-new 2.0 version – makes it easy to find players and games, so whether you are a veteran or a complete first-timer you will quickly get into the flow and meet new faces. Everyone wears a name badge, there are spaces for meetings and discussions, quizzes and competitions throughout, and the social side is rounded off by the integration football match and the BBQ.

Getting there is easy. The hotel sits in central Poland, close to Warsaw, just 1 km from a railway station with direct connections to the city and to Chopin Airport, with quick access from the A2 motorway and a large, free car park on site. Participants come from all over Poland and beyond, which gives the event a genuinely international and open atmosphere – Wargameron has become a real meeting place for the European wargaming community.

See you there!

If you enjoy long, immersive games in great company and in perfect conditions, I honestly cannot recommend it enough. Come along, let us show you some Polish hospitality, and see for yourself that the historical board gaming hobby reaches far beyond expectations. Whether this would be your first convention or your tenth, you will be made to feel right at home. I hope to see you there!
