I have played many games and systems which genius of late Mr. Berg spawned – with the ones focusing on ancients battles the most, as this is my favorite period in history. Somehow, the most straightforward and easiest one – Men of Iron – always eluded me.

However, after several extensive sessions with Levy & Campaign Inferno: Guelphs and Ghibellines Vie for Tuscany, 1259-1261, I really familiarized with the period and wanted to learn more. So it was a no-brainer for me to get tactical-level Purgatorio: Men of Iron Volume VI. The great series lives thanks to Ralph Shelton and looks even better than ever!

As you can see, I was very much anticipating this title, and as soon as it arrived, I could not wait to dive into it. Below, I present not only the components but also begin to outline some of the rules and core mechanics. There will certainly be much more content to come!
