Since its publication about two months ago, me and my two boys (10 & 12 years old) are playing Battle of Hoth extensively. That game is such a great gateway title to the Commands & Colors system. It appeals to players aesthetically – with beautiful, cold map of planet Hoth, great, detailed miniatures as well as functional and thematic cards. It has great mechanics, which are simple enough to quickly get into game, still being very interesting if you look at asymmetry of armies / decks as well as multiple tactical situations in scenarios it covers.

Last but not least, there is a theme – Star Wars! I do not need to explain how it works on imagination of the young adepts of wargaming – they are very keen to play as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. Of course, with the interests in the design comes a lot of experience with it. Thus it is not surprising that – in such a short time – I already managed to create several materials regarding this title. Below I am presenting my videos – use them to familiarize with the game or maybe to further enhance your skills with it!

Hope you will enjoy it!

Next, we’ll dive deeper into the main game rules, covering the sequence of play, components, boards, special exceptions, and the overall game flow in detail. This section is more procedural and theoretical – but you can use it as an alternative to reading the rulebook!

What is the best way to really learn the game? A gameplay, presenting the actual rules in practice. We shall try one of the scenarios – with several special units (AT-ATs in action!) – to show the breadth and depth of this small design. Let us see how it goes!

I hope I sparked a bit of interest in you guys to try this game!
