After the exciting and intense month of August – at least in the area of Storage Solutions as Cube4Me shop was celebrating the 2nd birthday – we are back to regular updates. And I am glad that the portfolio of products was again significantly expanded by some prominent boardgame titles.

As always, you can find all Wargaming Sets under below link:

Let us now jump to actual positions which I will briefly discuss!

COIN People Power

People Power: Insurgency in the Philippines, 1981-1986 is the latest addition to the great COIN series, initiated many years ago by Volko Ruhnke and now further expanded by new authors – like here by Kenneth Tee. This time we are getting a 3-player title (not so many in the series) which will allow us to reenact the important events in 1980’s in Philippines, resulting in a peaceful removal of Ferdinand Marcos from power.

The prepared set allows you to sort separately the playing pieces as well as cards – those in three separate card holders, for better storage and sorting (solo mode having its own tray). As always, everything neatly fitting into the box.

Below the link to the full set – enjoy:

Space Empires 4X (fourth printing)

Space Empires 4X is probably the most prominent, known and popular Sci-Fi themed title from GMT Games. Having already 5 editions, it reached thousands of people around the world. This is not surprising, as the gameplay of this Explore, Expand, Exploit, and Exterminate game is excellent.

Now, when it comes to a storage solution we got a real challenge – especially if you try to fit all components in old, 2-inch box. For 3-inch box the solution works like a charm – each player (red, blue, green, yellow) has its own tray plus you have card trays for additional components.

Please have a look at the detailed solution in above pictures and below link:

However, should you have any of the expansions to the game, especially Close Encounters, then…

Space Empires 4X + SE: Close Encounters

…jump immediately here!

With the addition of second box (or third should you have also Replicators) there is plenty of space to give each and every faction large counter tray (see above pictures). This is even more important, because each and every expansions brings additional units to each of the players; what I would like also to stress, that if you have old, 2 inch edition of Space Empires 4X plus at least one expansions set (Close Encounters or Replicators) you will still be able to fit all the components nicely.

Please check the photos above and below description of the set to see if that fits your needs. Enjoy!

Enemy Action: Ardennes

Finally – a great classic from John H. Butterfield – Enemy Action: Ardennes – gets a proper treatment as far as storage solution is concerned. We have similar set for Enemy Action: Kharkov, so there will be no huge surprises here: one tray for units counters, one tray for miscellaneous markers and four card holders for all decks in the game.

Everything fits nicely in the box, allowing for quick setup of the game and easy access to all the markers and card. More details here:

Manoeuvre

Another classic and another great storage solution. Manoeuvre is on the market for over a decade and still has a large group of fans. Still, it is pretty component intense game and proper set was not so easy to plan.

First, and crucial, part of the design was using the special card-holders, which are perfect for smaller cards and can hold two decks of them. That way each faction got its own box. Secondly, the actual units were grouped and put in separate small trays, easy to access whenever needed. Last but not least, the dice were put into one tray too (option, can be left freely in the box).

Battle Line

You probably know a lot of GMT Games titles, but were you aware that Battle Line is their all-time bestseller? This is not surprising as this great design by Reiner Knizia can be used as a quick filler or a game you take with yourselves for a travel.

The storage solution is pretty easy and straightforward – two card holders which will allow you to take the game everywhere with you, at the same time protecting the components. Easy & functional!

Conclusion

Again, glad to see the number of storage solutions growing on the Cube4Me site. There are more and more community solutions showing that people experiment with those products, trying to devise the best design to store the wargames components. For sure we can expect even more as next titles are now in works. Stay tuned!
