The British Way: Counterinsurgency at the End of Empire is the first of several COIN multipacks, containing four separate wargames exploring a series of thematically related insurgencies. Between 1945 and 1960, the British fought four major “emergencies”, as they referred to their counterinsurgency campaigns, each trying to manage their retreat from empire.
The Palestine game focuses on the British counterinsurgency effort against the Jewish insurgency from the end of WWII in August 1945 to the British decision to leave Palestine in September 1947. The game focuses on the counterinsurgency and counter-terrorism aspects of the conflict, particularly against the Irgun and Lehi organizations, and does not directly model the wider political struggles between the British, Jewish Agency, and Arab political groups, or the civil war that began in November 1947.
This is definitely by far one of the less complex, accessible and entry-type COIN games I played and can be used to large extent as a trainings material. In below session I am presenting all important mechanics as well as the flow of the game – have fun!
Enjoy!
