Crusade: Road to Jerusalem is a cool, small, print & play boardgame designed by Martin Melbardis and published from Solo Wargame. That company is known for such type of games and recently started to publish several in the series.
As I am currently pretty focused on Crusades and that period in history, I grabbed this game without hesitation. But what it is? In this game you represent the overall leader of the Crusaders coalition (not that such existed in reality…). The Franks bring raw strength, the Normans bold cunning, the Byzantines political influence, and the common Pilgrims unshakable faith. But each walks a different path, and it will take a steady hand to guide them. Shortages, rivalries, and the grinding hardships of the march will test your leadership at every step.
The journey will test your ability to manage resources, choose strategic routes, and respond to political and military challenges. Along the way you will negotiate alliances, conduct sieges (they are so cool!), endure hostile terrain, and strive to keep the Crusade united until you stand before the walls of Jerusalem or see the expedition dissolve into failure.
Today I want to present to you all of this in the short gameplay!
