I am always open to wargames, which focuses on less-know episodes from history. Although those events can be very significant – like a four-months huge land battle between Japanese and Soviet forces in Far East during the 1939 – the brooder public might not be so much aware of them.

Thus I was so happy to see The Battle of Khalkhin Gol being published by Princeps Games. It is an Operational level board-wargame covering the World War II border clash between Japan and the USSR at the very dawn of this global conflict. It is a hex & counter wargame with unique battle mechanism, a lot of strategy and a number of features specific to the harsh conditions of the setting.

So as always, I will provide historical background, component overview but also a lot of insights into victory conditions, mechanics as well as the rules. So I hope you will enjoy below material!
