Today I would like to present to the Dear Blog Readers a very interesting albeit light wargame system – based on the No Peace without Spain! game, designed by Don Herndon and published from Compass Games.
What we will present are three first games which were published using the similar rules – which with time, evolved into whole system. These are two-player Card Driven Games, with possibility for both sides to execute events or play operations. Each turn is one year. Each unit represents approximately 10,000 men of all arms. Leader counters represent the named personality and his staff.
As the focus is on late XVII and early XVIII centuries, the rules in pretty detailed way cover topic of fortresses & sieges. In the end, the side which occupies more of critical areas – condition which translates into victory points – shall win the game.
So, let us see the system in action by presenting following titles:
I believe that the system created by Don Herndon is a perfect mixture of CDG mechanics, quick battles resolution, just enough amount of rules and quick gameplay. Check it out!
