That was definitely THE game I was anxiously anticipating since it was announced like 4-5 years ago. As an ardent fan of Total War Series I simply could not pass on this. Of course, conscious of the pitfalls which always await the transition from the Digital Game to Board Game, I was closely monitoring the design decisions by Simon Hall, the author of the game. Many of them I really liked and will have finally possibility to test it in practice.
So what are we getting here? Based on the world-renowned video game, Total War: ROME – The Board Game allows up to four players to play as the leaders of Rome, Carthage, Greece, and Barbarian Tribes of Gallo-Germania. Each player will conquer new lands, develop their faction, claim territories, recruit epic armies, fight enemies in intense battles, build their cities, raise taxes, spy, riot, trade, and so much more!
Today we shall look at the game components and expansions. More materials, explaining the rules and showing examples of play, will follow. Enjoy!

I’m curious if you’re following the rules rewrite projects and what you thought of the rulebook?
I was looking to back this but went with TRIUMPH at the last minute instead since I didn’t think TWR would actually hit the table with the group’s I play with. In some ways I feel like I dodged a miss of a game, but in other ways, seeing the community step up with the rewrite has been impressive and showcases the passion for the game and it’s mechanics – and now I’m trying to figure out if I should buy someone else’s copy… And if the rules rewrite will actually finish.

Yes, I started to monitor the rules rewrite project. Not fully before our first game though. There is a lot of good content and ideas here. Still, it has to be polished and gathered in one, coherent ruleset.
